Use Case

How Journalist "Vera" Keeps Her Sources Safe With The Ark

The following is a composite scenario based on real use cases.

The Challenge

Vera covers some of the most dangerous stories in the world. Every day her work puts sources at risk - people who trusted her with information that could cost them their jobs, their freedom, or their safety.

Her security setup before The Ark was a fragile mix of consumer apps and physical notes. Signal for messages. Google Drive for documents. Handwritten notes for the things too sensitive to type. Each tool was a separate vulnerability. A single subpoena, device seizure, or breach could have exposed years of sources and unpublished work.

The Solution

The Ark gave Vera one place for everything: communications, files, source documents, notes, on a device she physically controls. Nothing lives on a vendor's server. Nothing can be subpoenaed from a third party, because no third party holds it.

Her files stay on her hardware. Draft articles, photos, interview notes, and contact lists live solely on her Ark. No cloud, no exposure, no third party that can be hacked or legally compelled.

Her sources stay anonymous. Sources connect to Vera's Ark without providing an email address, phone number, or any identifying information. The Ark requires no identity to use, from either side of the conversation.

She can work from anywhere. Vera keeps her Ark in a secure location. From anywhere in the world she connects back to it through an encrypted tunnel. No sensitive files on the laptop she carries through airports and border crossings.

Every message stays on her device. All communications are end-to-end encrypted and stored only on her Ark. Not on ArkCentral's servers. Not anywhere a court order can reach us - because we don't hold it.

The Outcome

Vera now covers the same high-risk stories with a setup that matches the stakes. One device. Full control. No exposure.

"Finally, I control my data and my sources. I can focus on reporting without worrying that a single seizure will undo years of work."
